Hallin Marine Works on Gumusut-Kakap Field (Malaysia)

Hallin Marine, a Superior Energy Services company, announces that its subsea operations vessel Windermere and two deepwater remotely operated vehicles are on duty in the Gumusut-Kakap deep water oil and gas field off Sabah, Malaysia.

“This contract was won on the basis of our ability to deliver a complete support-service package backed by our experience in deep water operations,” comments Hallin’s Director-Service Delivery Phil Chamberlain. “Our role has been to provide ROV survey services and support for the installation of offshore pipelines, risers and facilities over a six month period scheduled to complete in October. We performed pre-installation underwater surveys utilising two work class ROV systems before tie ins to the floating production system.”

The Gumusut-Kakap field is located 120 kilometres offshore in deep water of up to 1,200 metres. With estimated recoverable reserves of between 300 and 500 million barrels of oil equivalent, it is of significant importance to the Malaysian energy industry.

Hallin’s SOV Windermere is equipped for inspection, repair and maintenance as well as remotely operated vehicle support. The 80 x 20 metre vessel is capable of accommodating 120 personnel and incorporates a helicopter landing deck, 50 tonne heave compensated deepwater crane, a 15-man saturation diving system with a through moonpool three-man diving bell.
