7 Tons Of Freight Crash When Cable Snaps On Ship

A 638-ton piece of equipment used in refining oil was half on a cargo ship and half on the dock at the Port of Los Angeles Sunday night after a cable snapped on a crane, causing the massive piece of equipment to fall, but no one was injured, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The cargo was being off-loaded about 4:15 p.m. at Berth 126 at the Port of Los Angeles when it fell, according to Lt. Andrea Grossman of the LAPD’s Harbor division.
