India: Orissa Government Announces Second Phase of Development Work on Gopalpur Port

 

The Orissa government is upgrading the port of Gopalpur and has announced a second phase of development work, which should be completed by March 2013.

Investment of $791m will be required to allow the port to eventually handle 54m tonnes of cargo.

Gopalpur, a natural port of Orissa, is one of the ideally located and topographically suited deep sea ports on the East Coast of India.
