Indonesia - Maruta Jaya 900 - Favourable Wind of the Seas

The A.V.T.I. foundation has been established just before the crisis started with the visit of a remarkable schooner Maruta Jaya 900, which means Favourable Wind of the Seas.

The ship has been built originally for Training Maritime cadets and after the Tsunami hit Indonesia in the year 2004 has been used for the startup of this sailing training module.

By unknown reasons the training has been stopped and she has been used as accommodation vessel for underwater excavation/wreck diving purposes.

After these operations came to an end the vessel became jobless and has been laid up in the harbour of Jakarta .

The Owners BPPT Indonesia together with the Ministry of Welfare have been searching for a solution to rehabilitate the vessel in her former state and A.V.T.I,  informed by the former operator Captain Gita Ardjakusuma, has been approached to help her out of her desolation, lying idle in the harbour of Tanjung Priok-Jakarta.

The Vision  :

Vocational Training (on the spot) where the offer is for the international demand of this world in maritime and other disciplines of the seaport related sectors.

The Mission:

Giving all motivated and talented  people a chance for developing their character forming and  personal ambitions to the skillfull professional manpower these industries are demanding.

Indonesia, a fast  growing maritime nation , more than 175.000 islands lying as a girdle of emeralds around the equator (Multatulli) and more than 220 million of population, from which many have their roots in the  historical ties with the Dutch Forefathers, could join together in a mutual attempt with  knowhow transfer by  modern international training methods.

The vessel lying on the buoys in Tanjung Priok needs to be dry docked and furnished with new sails and accommodation for around 50 person teacher/trainers and trainees.

The aim is to start in January 2012 for the dry dock and during the following months until April 2012 make her shipshape for the first sailing and Morotai on the island of Halmaheira could be her destination, depending on her actual sea state then and the climatological circumstances of the monsoon.

Attached are the possible sailing tracks for the schooner, which has also additional electrical driven propulsion, a concept by former Indonesian technological President Habibie.

“Visiting Offshore Energy and Europort 2011 and have seeking partners for our enterprise we found a willing ear for our plan to upgrade this Tallship Maruta Jaya 900 in order to save this marvelous steel schooner for the future training of the Indonesian as well as foreign stagiaires Serving two goals namely giving live to the schooner

FAVOURABLE WIND OF THE SEAS and blowing this favourable wind in the worldwide lack of professional needed MANPOWER for maritime and other industries by Advanced Vocational Training Modules from A.V.T.I.”, Captain Hendrik-Karel Franken said.

“During my lifelong experience as a Seafarer from A/B to Master  and the factor of globalization of our world, which like many of us fearing will end up in a total destruction of our planet, the solution to stop the spiral of devastation lies in our own hands.

Making use of natural so called “Green Energy”, Solar and Wind, both ingredients are lying together in this “Wind of the Seas” schooner, the vessel   a symbol for Indonesian and Dutch ancestral Technology can be used to educate the future Technology for seafaring nations from the startup of their careers in our endeavours upgrading our living environment.

We will prolong this mission and invite our good willing participants to join together with us in saving Maruta Jaya 900 to save our environment.”

“The tallship has to be dry docked beginning next year 2012 and we are seeking investors and participants to make the vessel shipshape and adjusting her accommodation to inhabit 50 students and their teachers/trainers.

She will then make her solar and wind energy cruises along the beautiful tracks of thousands of islands in Indonesia’s Girdle of Emeralds from Sabang to Merauke including the islands of Riau Archipelago Batam lying just across Singapore to Java, Sunda islands, Sulawesi, Kalimantain, Halmaheira , Papua New Guinea to Darwin in Australia.

We are in negotiations with the Indonesian Ministry of Welfare to get the necessary support from the Indonesian navy, which will partly subsidise the enterprise,”.

“Indonesian partner informed us, that by the replacing/rotating ministers the budget-plan of budget of the Morotai event (Us.$ 900.000,-) had been rescheduled including the budget.

This means, that now the vessel is free for us to “bare-boat charter” for further operation.

We are seeking interested parties to operate the vessel in cooperation with our Indonesian partner”, he added.
