InterMoor to deliver mooring equipment to Chevron’s Alba FSU

InterMoor, a provider of mooring services in subsea services group Acteon, has been awarded a contract for the supply of mooring equipment to Chevron’s Alba FSU in the North Sea.

InterMoor said via social media that it would supply mooring equipment for the completion of a mooring integrity project involving the change out of 12 mooring lines on the Alba FSU.

According to the company, the mooring equipment supply contract involves the procurement and delivery of twelve 127mm spiral strand wire ropes, twelve 152mm x 27.5mtr chains, twelve 140mm x 300mtr chains with 133mm stud link chain attached, and all connecting links.

InterMoor added that the overall weight of the equipment stands at a massive 3,135 tonnes.

The FSU is working on the Chevron-operated Alba field. The field lies about 210 kilometers northeast of Aberdeen in the UK Central North Sea. First oil from the field was achieved in January 1994.

The field facilities include a fixed steel platform, the Alba Northern Platform, and an FSU – the first to be purpose-built for the UK sector of the North Sea. The field was further developed in 2001 through the addition of the Alba Extreme South subsea production center.

Alba crude oil is offloaded from the FSU to a shuttle tanker before being transported to refineries in northwest Europe.
