MacArtney’s Docking Head for Schmidt Ocean Institute ROV

MacArtney has supplied Mermac D docking head for Schmidt Ocean Institute remotely operated vehicle (ROV), soon to be deployed on a sea study.

The SuBastian ROV will be deployed onboard R/V Falkor during the surface microlayer and air-sea boundary cruise.

The Mermac D will aid in launch and recovery of the ROV system, which is equipped with a modular frame to provide scientists with a flexible vehicle for ocean exploration.

“Recent testing and integration in the open ocean of the ROV SuBastian from aboard its 272-foot oceanographic research vessel Falkor turned out very satisfactorily placing SuBastian in real-world conditions, demonstrating its functionality as a modern research tool with innovative systems,” MacArtney said.

In addition to Mermac D, MacArtney has supplied more products for handling the ROV SuBastian, among them the Mermac R30 AHC winch as well as an A-frame.
