Majestic Princess Hits the Water

The third Royal Princess class vessel built for the California-based cruise operator Princess Cruises, a brand of the Carnival Group, was launched today at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Monfalcone.

Scheduled to be delivered in April of 2017, the vessel, named Majestic Princess, will now undergo interior fittings.

Majestic Princess will join the company’s Royal Princess, Regal Princess, Crown Princess and Pacific Princess, Caribbean Princess.

The new 145,000 gross ton cruise ship will be able to accommodate 4,250 passengers on board.

Majestic Princess will be the first unit specifically designed and built for the Chinese market, Fincantieri said.

Princess Cruises will deploy the vessel to Europe for the 2017 cruise season before sending it to cruise in the Asian waters.

The vessel will first set sail from Civitavecchia, Rome, on April 4 for a five-day Maiden Adriatic Sea roundtrip voyage visiting Kotor and Corfu. The cruise ship will be deployed on maiden European sailings with five- to 28-day Mediterranean voyages from Barcelona, Athens and Rome.

Princess Cruises’ season will feature itineraries on 153 cruise departures, visiting 27 countries.

The six cruise ships will sail to 119 destinations in the Mediterranean, Scandinavia, Russia, and the British Isles. New ports of call in the summer 2017 season will feature calls to Haugesund in Norway, Oban in Scotland, Siracusa in Sicily, Italy, Ulvik in Norway, and St. Tropez in France.
