Malaysia: AGR Delivers Two Subsea Engineering Courses for PETRONAS

AGR Field Operations has developed and delivered two subsea engineering training courses for PETRONAS Management Training Sdn Bhd, the management and technical training subsidiary of Malaysia’s national oil company Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS).

Held during June and July 2011, these courses are designed in collaboration with Institut Teknologi Petroleum PETRONAS, one of PETRONAS’ training institutions.

The training programme was targeted at experienced engineers, providing them with even more specific knowledge on Subsea Installation, Hook-Up and Commissioning, and Subsea Intervention. The programme covered in detail the applicable codes, standards, operations, equipment, tooling, vessel spreads, procedure development and engineering analysis.

The curriculum sought to address the shortcomings between traditional engineering studies, such as civil and mechanical, among others, and the technical proficiency required to execute operations in the subsea environment.

Brett Smith, Senior Vice President, AGR Field Operations commented:

This is the first time that we are delivering training services to Malaysia and I am confident that our relationship with both PETRONAS and INSTEP will continue to grow along the way. We are currently working on a number of opportunities in the Southeast Asian region for our specialised subsea and pipeline inspection and integrity services. Delivering training to this market is an effective opportunity for us to showcase our skill as an industry leader in Asset Integrity Management.
