MMF Steering Group Announces MMF50 (UK)

The next Marine Measurement Forum (MMF) will be number 50 in the series. To celebrate this milestone, the MMF Steering Group has announced that MMF50 will take place on Tuesday 12th June 2012 in the prestigious Princess Royal Gallery at the National Museum of the Royal Navy in the Historic Dockyard at Portsmouth.

As its theme MMF50 will combine anecdotal reviews of progress in “measuring in the marine environment” over the last 30 years with ‘crystal ball gazing’ into the next 30 years; there will also be some contemplation of the status quo and a specially themed presentation from a Royal Navy Museum expert. There day will also include opportunities to explore some of the many attractions of Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

The MMF Steering Group (Astrid Powell, Keith Birch, Andy Smerdon and Roger Scrivens) are the organisers for this MMF and a special programme with invited speakers is currently being compiled. Confirmed speakers include Prof Howard Roe (NOC), Prof Ralph Rayner (BMT Group), Simon Partridge (Sonardyne International Ltd), Charles & Matthew Quartley (Valeport Ltd), Versha Carter (Intelligent Exhibitions Ltd) and Kevin Black (Partrac Ltd).

The Marine Measurement Forum is a one day, non-profit making event that provides opportunities for the exchange of ideas, knowledge, techniques and developments across an extensive range of marine scientific measurement activities. The series has now operated over 30 years.
