Nam Cheong Sells Three Offshore Vessels

Malaysia’s Nam Cheong Limited has sold two Anchor Handling Towing Supply (“AHTS”) vessel and a 3,000 dead weight tonne (“dwt”) Platform Supply Vessel (“PSV”) for a total sum of USD43.81 million.

One of the 5,150bhp AHTS vessels was sold to a repeat Norwegian-based customer that will own, operate and manage the vessel under a long-term charter contract with Petrobras, Brazil’s national oil corporation that ranks as the world’s fifth largest energy company. The other 5,150bhp AHTS vessel was sold to an established customer based in the Middle East, a marine operator with an expanding fleet of Offshore Support Vessels. The 3,000 dwt PSV was sold to a new customer – an emerging offshore marine services and construction company based in West Africa.

The PSV and AHTS vessels are being built as part of the Group’s built-to-stock series in one of Nam Cheong’s subcontracted yards in China. The 3,000dwt ABS Class PSV is 75 metres long and equipped with Dynamic Positioning 2 system. The 5,150 bhp AHTS vessels are 59 metres long and have a bollard pull of 62 tonnes. They are scheduled for delivery between the fourth quarter of 2012 and first quarter of 2013.
