NOC: Learn About Oceans at Southampton Boat Show

NOC Learn About Oceans at Southampton Boat Show

The mystery of what lies beneath the ocean surface is revealed aboard the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton-based state-of-the art research vessel, Callista, at the PSP Southampton Boat Show from 16-20 September.

Callista is the University of Southampton’s purpose built catamaran that is designed to give researchers the best possible platform to carry out science, as well as offering hands-on Discover Oceanography sessions for schoolchildren and community groups. At almost 20-metres long, the twin-hulled vessel has a large rear deck with an `A’ frame for equipment deployment. Callista also features the latest scientific equipment in wet and dry laboratories.

Show visitors will have the opportunity to take a closer look at the animal and plant life in our coastal waters, find out about the ecology of the seabed and the effects of global warming, as well as the impact of humans on the oceans.
