Nordana Returns to Taizhou Sanfu for More

Danish owner Nordana has ordered eight multi-purpose (MPP) heavy lift vessels from Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering.

Designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI), the vessels are expected to start joining Nordana’s fleet as of April 2015 through the second quarter  of 2016.

Nordana ordered four vessels in January 2013,  and with latest newbuilds the company’s orderbook at the Chinese shipyard stands at 12 ships. The price tag of the vessels has not been revealed, but according to broker sources the price  is estimated to be about $19 million each.

The order intake at the shipyard is looking good, taking into account recent orders from German shipping company ZEABORN GmbH & Co. for ten multi-purpose vessels (MMPs)  in April, or that from Thailand Precious Shipping that ordered eight bulk carriers at the end of last year.
