NorSea to provide supply base services to DEA

Oil company DEA Norge has awarded Norway-based NorSea Group a three-year frame agreement for the provision of supply base services.

NorSea Group delivers services such as provision of personnel and equipment, transport, logistics and waste handling from Stavanger to Hammerfest.

The frame agreement will secure DEA with supply base services for the next three years, the oil company explained on Monday. The agreement will be effective as from January 1, 2018, and will last for three years with an option for extension.

Jan Petter Rød, Head of drilling and well completion in DEA Norge, said: “DEA is entering a time of increased activity level. We are developing the Dvalin field and are getting closer to operatorship of exploration wells and production. In this phase, it is crucial to have competent and experienced supplier on supply base services.”

The Dvalin field in the Norwegian Sea is being developed as a tie-back to the Heidrun platform, and Vestbase in Kristiansund will therefore be the preferred supply base of choice for that project, DEA said. Vestbase has had several activities related to the Dvalin field and its ongoing development. For exploration drilling in the coming years, DEA will assess base location within the NorSea Group system in each case.

The Dvalin field’s plan for Development and Operation was approved by the Norwegian authorities in March last year. The licensees plan to produce a total volume of approximately 18.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas from two reservoirs. First production is planned for 2020.

CEO of Vestbase AS, Alf Dahl, said: “Production drilling in the field, starting in the summer of 2019, will mean more activity for Vestbase and several other suppliers in both 2019 and parts of 2020.”

Dvalin will be developed with a four wells subsea template, which is connected to the Heidrun platform. At Heidrun, the gas will be partly processed in a new module, before the gas is transported in a new export pipeline to Polarled, going to the Nyhamna onshore gas terminal. At Nyhamna, the gas will be processed and transported to the European market.
