Norway: Apply Sørco Gets Goliat Maintenance and Modifications Contract

Eni Norge has signed a Maintenance and Modifications contract with Apply Sørco for the Goliat project. This is the third major operational contract awarded to a contractor with a local presence in Finnmark.

The contract covers engineering support, studies, and maintenance and modification services. Modification work will cover project phases as specified in individual work orders, and its scope may include all phases up to and including the complete Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, Commissioning (EPCIC) process.

The contract also includes the maintenance of steel structures and pipe, and various support services which Eni Norge requires in connection with preparations for operational readiness and operations on the Goliat platform. The Contractor will be part of a collaborative working environment (Integrated Operations) which will promote faster and better decision-making within a distributed cross-disciplinary organisation based on real-time quality data, independent of location and supported by new work processes.

The contract term is three years, with further options for 2 x 2 years.

The Goliat field is planned to come on stream in the 3rd quarter of 2014. However, since Eni Norge requires engineers to prepare Operational Readiness activities, the contract will come into force as soon as possible.

Local presence important

The selection of contractor was made after a combined financial and technical evaluation. Major emphasis has been placed on the contractor’s commitment to establishing a local presence in Hammerfest, and its efforts to develop a working relationship with companies in the Hammerfest region.

“We are very pleased to have access to the local engineering resources we need in order to complete preparations for our operations”, says Svein Fredrik Fredriksen, Eni Norge’s District Manager in Hammerfest. “Together with the Operations and Maintenance contract, a local presence has been a key prerequisite for participation in the bidding process for this contract”, says Fredriksen.

Goliat is the first oil field to come on stream in the Barents Sea. Eni Norge is the operator of the field with Statoil as its partner. Eni Norge is part of Eni, an Italian integrated energy company with operations in 85 countries.
