Norway: Marathon Conducts Manned Underwater Operations on Volund and Alvheim

Marathon has been granted consent from the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway to conduct manned underwater operations in connection with installation of equipment for connection of new subsea-completed wells on the Volund and Alvheim fields.

Minor maintenance activities will also be carried out on the mobile Alvheim FPSO production facility.

The activity in connection with the new wells is scheduled to start at the beginning of October 2012, and will be completed in March 2013. The maintenance activity on Alvheim FPSO will take place during the summer of 2012, and is estimated to last for one day. The water depth in the area is approximately 120 metres.

The underwater operations will be carried out by the diving contractor Technip using the Skandi Arctic diving vessel. A light diving support vessel will be used for the maintenance activity on Alvheim FPSO.
