Oil workers’ strike still affecting Petrobras’ operations

Brazilian oil company Petrobras informed Thursday that the strike coordinated by the oil workers’ unions was still affecting its operations.

On Tuesday, November 3, 2015, oil production fell by 178,000 barrels, equivalent to around 8.5% of daily output in Brazil, the company said.

Petrobras said that with the measures it is taking to reduce the impact of the strike, the oil output in Brazil on November 4, was expected to have fallen by 140,000 barrels, down 6.5% from pre-strike levels.

“Petrobras continues to take all necessary measures to ensure the maintenance of its operations, the preservation of its installations and the safety of its workers,” the company said.

To remind, Brazil’s largest oil workers’ union, FUP, started the strike on Sunday, November 1, 2015, protesting against attempts by the government to shrink the state-run Petrobras.
