Penguin wave energy converter completes third test season

Wello has completed the third test season of the Penguin wave energy converter.

During this test season the device was deployed on site six months continuously. All components inside the device are still original from 2011.

The Wello Penguin captures kinetic energy turning it into usable power while riding the waves.

The 220 tonne vessel, approximately 30 meters in length, is held in place by three wires anchored to the seabed below.

The device was tested at the EMEC testing facilities in Orkney.
