PG Flow Solutions to supply pump package for Nova tie-back

Rosenberg WorleyParsons has awarded PG Flow Solutions’ subsidiary Calder Ltd a contract to supply a MEG pump package to the Nova tie-back to Gjøa project.

Wintershall is the operator of Nova, developed with two subsea modules, which is tied back to the Gjøa platform operated by Neptune Energy.

Nova was discovered in 2012 and is situated in the northeastern North Sea about 120 kilometers northwest of Bergen. Located in the so-called “Quadrant 35”, Nova profits from this region’s rich infrastructure. Here Wintershall is already operator of the nearby subsea Vega field, as well as a partner in Gjøa.

Rosenberg WorleyParsons is responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) of the Nova topside module on the Gjøa platform.

PG Flow Solution said on Tuesday that liquid handling and pump specialist Calder was operating as a subcontractor to Rosenberg WorleyParsons.

Calder will deliver a mono ethylene glycol (MEG) package that consists of several high-pressure pumps including MEG subsea injection pump, MEG jockey pump, MEG topside injection pump, and MEG booster return pump plus spare parts for installation, commissioning, and start-up.

According to PG Flow, the MEG package will be engineered, assembled and skid mounted at Calder’s facility in Worcester, UK, and subsequently delivered to Rosenberg WorleyParsons’ yard in Stavanger, Norway, in the first quarter of 2019.

Peter Elton, managing director of Calder, said: “It is great to see that the Norwegian offshore contractors have significantly increased their competitiveness in recent years, and the Nova topside module is a good example of this.”

Nova was discovered in 2012 and is situated in the northeastern North Sea approximately 20 kilometers southwest of the Neptune-operated Gjøa platform and about 120 kilometers northwest of Bergen.

In related news, John Fredriksen’s Northern Drilling won a firm six-well contract last month for the West Mira harsh environment drilling rig with Wintershall. The rig will be used for drilling at the Nova field with an expected start date in March 2020.
