Norwegian oil services company Aker Solutions is preparing a compression module for the Statoil-operated Troll field off Norway for delivery at the end of the month.

The oil services company on Tuesday shared an image of the 460-ton compression module at its yard in Egersund where it was built. The engineering work was carried out in Bergen.

Aker Solutions said that the module will head to the Troll field located in the North Sea at the end of April.

Statoil ordered the module from Aker Solutions back in September 2016 as part of its project to help boost the gas treatment capacity at Troll B platform to increase oil recovery.

Troll B is a floating process and accommodation platform with a concrete hull that produces from thin oil-bearing layers in the Troll West reservoir.

The value of the contract for Aker Solutions was estimated at NOK 370 million.

The module is scheduled to be lifted onto Troll B in the spring of 2018 and become operational in the third quarter of 2018.
