Prosafe Wins $56 Million North Sea Contract for Safe Caledonia Rig


Prosafe has been awarded a contract by BG International (CNS) Limited for the provision of the Safe Caledonia accommodation rig for the Gaupe and other projects in the North Sea.

The firm period of the contract is 9 months with on site operations planned to commence March 2011. In addition Prosafe has granted four additional two-week options.

Total value of the contract for the firm term is about USD 56 million.

The Safe Caledonia was built in 1982 at the GVA / Kockums yard in Sweden to a Pacesetter design, and was refurbished and upgraded to DP 2 / POSMOOR in 2004.

The Safe Caledonia has a maximum of 495 beds, 75 workstations, a high level of accommodation and a fully articulated, automated gangway.

The Safe Caledonia has DP 2 station keeping abilities and can also deploy a 10-point wire mooring pattern, managed by a POSMOOR thruster assisted online mooring system. She is able to serve the most demanding charters in all geographical areas.
