Russia: RS, Baltiysky Zavod JSC Ink Services Contract for New Generation Icebreakers

Russian Maritime Register of Shipping has signed a contract with JSC “Baltiysky Zavod – Shipbuilding” for services to review the technical documentation on icebreaker of new generation of Project 22600.

The technical documentation will be reviewed for compliance with the applicable re-quirements of RS Rules, the provisions of international conventions and the supplementary require-ments of the Flag Administrations in force on the date of keel laying.

In case of a positive result of reviewing, the decision will be made concerning the possibility of RS classification with class notation КМ✪Icebreaker 8 [2] AUT1-ICS OMBO FF2WS DYN-POS-2EPP ANTI-ICE ECO-S HELIDECK-H WINTERIZATION (-40) Special purpose ship.

The vessel’s keel laying is scheduled for September 2012.

The state customer under the contract is the Federal Agency of Marine and River Transport, the developer is the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Rosmorport”. The ship is to be transferred to the customer in 2015.
