Statoil takes Solstad Farstad’s platform supplier for North Sea work

Offshore shipping company Solstad Farstad has been awarded a new contract for its platform supply vessel by Statoil.

Statoil has awarded the contract to the PSV Normand Fortune. The 2013-built platform supplier is of a VS 485 MK III Design.

Solstad Farstad said on Friday that the contract will start in May 2018 for a period of four months firm with further 3×2 months option.

The vessel will operate in the Norwegian Sector of the North Sea.

Kenneth Lande, EVP – Strategic Regions of Solstad Farstad, said: “We are pleased to announce that we have secured another contract with Statoil ASA, one of our key clients. In addition to Normand Fortune, Solstad Farstad already has ten vessels working on long-term contracts with Statoil in Norway, UK and Brazil.”

Earlier this week Solstad Farstad was awarded several new contracts for its PSVs operating in the UK North Sea.

The vessel owner recently said it expected a pick-up in offshore vessel chartering in 2018 after several years of the depression in the sector.
