1. Installation of HelWin Beta Jacket Set for Completion

After the recent sail away from Heerema Vlissingen, Siemens’ HelWin beta jacket arrived at its location in the German North Sea where the installation started by the semi-submersible construction vessel ‘Thialf’.

2. McDermott to Operate North Sea Spoolbase

McDermott International, Inc.’s subsidiary has signed an option agreement with PD Ports which gives it the exclusive right to operate a spoolbase to serve projects in the North Sea. McDermott expects to have the facility available for projects in early 2015.

3. Reef Subsea Re-Organizes into Three Separate Units

Reef Subsea has announced a re-organization to create three independent companies, Reef Subsea, X-Subsea and Technocean Subsea, all with separate management and independent strategies.

4. Aker Solutions, Baker Hughes Announce Subsea Production Alliance

Aker Solutions ASA and Baker Hughes Incorporated have agreed to form an alliance to develop technology for production solutions that will boost output, increase recovery rates and reduce costs for subsea fields.

5. OpenHydro to Build Tidal Energy Demonstration Project in Bay of Fundy

Tidal technology company, OpenHydro, has been selected by the Nova Scotia Department of Energy in Canada for a tidal energy demonstration project at the Fundy Ocean Research Centre for Energy (FORCE) test site.
