Total extends contracts for DOF’s anchor handlers

French oil company Total has extended the charters for the Skandi Møgster and Skandi Saigon offshore support vessels.

According to the owner, Norway-based DOF, the vessels will keep on working for Total’s Argentinian subsidiary, Total Austral.

The two anchor handlers have been working for Total since the early 2014. The latest charter extension will keep the vessels busy until October 2016. DOF did not reveal financial details of the latest charter extension.

The 73-meter Skandi Møgster is the older of the two vessels, built in 1998 by Kværner Kleven Leirvik. It accommodates 24 persons and has a bollard pull of 192
tonnes. At 75 meters, the 2011-built Skandi Saigon is two meters longer than Skandi Møgster. It accommodates 27 people and has a bollard pull of 196 tonnes.

As for Total, the company has operated in Argentina since 1978. In February 2016, Total started up production at the offshore Vega Pleyade gas and condensate field in the Tierra del Fuego region of Argentina.

The project will have a production capacity of 10 million cubic meters of gas per day (70,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d)).
