Turkish Freighter Dogu Haslaman Sank in Aegean Sea

 

A Turkish freighter Dogu Haslaman sank in Aegean Sea 25 miles off Turkish mainland Cesme.

The 71 meters ship with a cargo of ammonium nitrate was on the way from Istanbul to Ashdod, Israel. The ship had suffered water ingress by yet unknown reasons. Two coast guard boats and Coast Guard helicopters reached the site for the rescue efforts. Eleven crew members were rescued by PIRIREIS, one of the nearby ships, and later transferred to Turkish Coast Guard boat. Chief Officer and Cook of Dogu Haslaman were reported dead due to heart attack.
