U.S. offshore rigs down from previous week

Baker Hughes Incorporated has posted Weekly Rig Count reports to its Investor Relations website. U.S. rigs were up by 3, but when it comes to offshore rigs, the number has dropped.

BHI Rig Count: U.S. +3 to 1928 rigs

U.S. Rig Count is up 3 rigs from last week to 1928, with oil rigs up 10 to 1578, gas rigs down 6 to 350, and miscellaneous rigs down 1 to 0.

U.S. Rig Count is up 166 rigs from last year at 1762, with oil rigs up 193, gas rigs down 20, and miscellaneous rigs down 7.

The U.S. Offshore rig count is 52, down 1 rig from last week, and down 8 rigs year over year.
BHI Rig Count: Canada -8 to 402 rigs

Canadian Rig Count is down 8 rigs from last week to 402, with oil rigs down 9 to 216, and gas rigs up 1 to 186.

Canadian Rig Count is up 1 rig from last year at 401, with oil rigs down 18, and gas rigs up 19.

The Baker Hughes Rotary Rig Counts are counts of the number of drilling rigs actively exploring for or developing oil or natural gas in the United States, Canada and international markets. Baker Hughes has issued the rotary rig counts as a service to the petroleum industry since 1944, when Hughes Tool Company began weekly counts of US and Canadian drilling activity. Baker Hughes initiated the monthly international rig count in 1975.
