Baker Hughes has posted Weekly Rig Count reports to its Investor Relations website. U.S. offshore rigs dropped both on weekly and yearly levels.

BHI Rig Count: U.S. +2 to 1929 rigs

U.S. Rig Count is up 2 rigs from last week to 1929, with oil rigs down 13 to 1582, gas rigs up 14 to 346, and miscellaneous rigs up 1 to 1.

U.S. Rig Count is up 187 rigs from last year at 1742, with oil rigs up 206, gas rigs down 14, and miscellaneous rigs down 5.

The U.S. Offshore rig count is 53, down 2 rigs from last week, and down 6 rigs year over year.

BHI Rig Count: Canada +3 to 429 rigs

Canadian Rig Count is up 3 rigs from last week to 429, with oil rigs up 5 to 237, and gas rigs down 2 to 192.

Canadian Rig Count is up 35 rigs from last year at 394, with oil rigs up 4, and gas rigs up 31.

Canadian Rig Count is up 29 rigs from last year at 388, with oil rigs down 4, and gas rigs up 33.

The Baker Hughes Rotary Rig Counts are counts of the number of drilling rigs actively exploring for or developing oil or natural gas in the United States, Canada and international markets. Baker Hughes has issued the rotary rig counts as a service to the petroleum industry since 1944, when Hughes Tool Company began weekly counts of US and Canadian drilling activity. Baker Hughes initiated the monthly international rig count in 1975.
