UAE: Polarcus Adds POLARCUS SELMA to its Fleet


Polarcus Limited announced that Polarcus Selma Ltd, a member of the Polarcus Group, took delivery on 08 August 2011 of Polarcus Selma, the sixth 3D seismic vessel to date to join the Polarcus fleet.

Polarcus Selma is the sister ship to Polarcus Samur, delivered to the Polarcus Group in March 2011. The vessel was built at Drydocks World – Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and following delivery will complete final outfitting of loose seismic equipment.

Polarcus Selma is an ultra-modern and Arctic-ready 8 streamer 3D seismic vessel of the ULSTEIN SX133 design capable of towing both conventional and wide tow spreads, including the Company’s First PassTM 3D technique. The SX133 design has an overall length of 84.2m and a beam of 17m. Polarcus Selma has a maximum speed of 17 knots and is capable of deploying up to 8 streamers each of 6,000m length, or 6 streamers each of 8,000m length, with lateral streamer separations of between 25 and 200 meters.
