UK Investors to boost Indonesia’s tidal and solar with USD 4 bln

Indonesia’s Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) has announced the investments from UK in Indonesia’s renewable sector in the amount of USD 4.01 bln.

According to Jakarta Globe, the investors from UK plan to boost Indonesia’s tidal and solar sector.

“The investments will be in solar energy, higher than 10 megawatts, and offshore tidal energy.

“Some of the companies have asked our help in finding potential local partners in Indonesia,” Himawan Hariyoga, the BKPM in charge of investment promotion, was quoted as saying by Jakarta Globe.

Investments in the sector that contributes to the environmental preservation in Indonesia amount to USD 37 bln for the period 2010-2014. BKMP’s goal is to increase the investments in renewable sector to USD 56 bln by 2019, Jakarta Globe reports.
