 Kherson Shipyard Launches Dry Cargo Vessel LEDA

PJSC Kherson Shipyard has launched a Dry Cargo vessel “LEDA” for Vestra Ltd Company, built with the use of a donor-vessel elements and designed to transport general and bulk cargoes.

On the basis of construction on project RSD 58, the vessel has acquired a fore bulb with the shell plate thickness up to 20 mm and the trunk aft.

Along the whole length of the vessel the complete bottom plating has been replaced, the coamings, holds have been built-up, the cargo zone has been divided into 4 holds by new corrugated transverse bulkheads.

A new fore movable hatch cover has been manufactured and installed, with the raise of hatch covers by means of hydraulic cylinders, whereas the transportation is carried out by special winches installed on the Upper Deck. To improve the manoeuvrability when passing narrow places, sluice gates and at mooring the vessel is equipped with a fore thruster of “screw-in-pipe” type.

The implemented works improved the cargo and the manoeuvring characteristics of the vessel.

The vessel’s length is 138.8 m, the width is 16.5 m, the depth is 5.0 m. The deadweight at sea with the draft 4.25 m is about 6 200 t., the river deadweight with the draft of 3.60 m is about 4 700 t.

At present 3 tankers of RST 27 project are under construction, 4 vessels are being updated, 14 vessels are under repair.

The scope of production and services rendered for 2012 made UAH 414.9 mio., which is over two times more than the similar factor of 2011.
