Ultrabulk Branches Out into MPP Sector

Danish ship operator Ultrabulk’s is launching a new multi-purpose (MPP) service between Europe and Africa.

The service will be headed by Mr. Joergen Larsen, who together with a team of experienced professionals has extensive experience from their previous employment with Copenship MPP, as explained by Ultrabulk.

” With the strength of the Ultranav Group, and the synergies with Ultrabulk’s existing steel parcel service, we are confident that we will be able to offer a first class service for both existing and new clients,” Mr. Jørgen Larsen said.

The service will be a tramp parcel operation, based on a regular service with dedicated tonnage and spot tonnage on inducement. The main loading ports for the southbound service will be North Continent and West Mediterranean via West Africa into Eastern South Africa including islands.

The North Bound service will be loading in East / South Africa via West Africa back to the Mediterranean / Black Sea as well as Northern Continent and Baltic. The cargo will be dry bulk, project, generals, IMO cargo and RO/RO cargo.

“Along with the tramp parcel operation, we will increase the focus on smaller bulk cargoes (10-20,000 mt), a service not previously offered by Ultrabulk, but where we expect further synergies to develop both with Ultrabulk’s handysize team as well as the already existing parcel service,” the company said in the announcement.

“Our already existing Steel Service has been very positively received by our customers, and in line with our strategic ambition to further value add our services, we had no hesitation when this opportunity presented itself,” Mr. Per Lange, CEO of Ultrabulk commented.
