Update: Scan Master Refloated
The Norwegian product tanker that ran aground on Saturday evening off Norway’s central western coast has been refloated with the help of two tugboats.
The 71-meter long tanker Scan Master grounded onto a rocky beach of a fjord at Hemnskjela in Snillfjord, Norway while battling strong winds.
The ship was loaded with 600 tonnes of fish entrails that were transferred on Tuesday after the vessel failed to refloat. The tanker was finally refloated on Wednesday afternoon, local media informed.
The ship is currently being towed to Sandstad, Norway for damage assessment.
The cause of the grounding is yet to be determined.
No pollution or injuries have been reported.
The ship, operated by Grontvedt Shipping of Norway, was en route to Averoy on 21 March when it got grounded.
