Vinashin: Keel Laid for New ATD Tugs

A keel–laying ceremony of four new ATD tugs (type ATD 2412), for export to Damen Group, was recently held at Vinashin’s Ha Long shipyard in Quang Ninh province, Vietnam. The vessels are built according to design and supervision of DAMEN Group (Netherlands).

The Azimuth Tractor Drive Tug 2412 design is powerful and extremely compact. The tugs are equipped with Damen’s patented ‘Twin Fin’ technology resulting in excellent course stability. It is a powerful harbour tractor tug with excellent course keeping and maneuvering capabilities, equipped with heavy-duty towing winch.

These tugs, provided with modern equipment and facilities, meet all requirements of the newest marine rules and international conventions.

As scheduled, the tug No.1 and No.2 will be launched in the end of first quarter and delivered in the end of second quarter of 2014.
