WATCH: Building Island Venture


The video above shows the largest offshore vessel so far from Norwegian Ulstein Verft the ‘Island Venture’, hull number 302.

The Ulstein SX165-design vessel measures 159.9 meters in length and 30 meters in the beam. It was redesigned and increased in both length and beam during the engineering phase (was originally 147.5 metres long with a beam of 28 metres).

Island Venture is jointly owned by Island Offshore and Edison Chouest Offshore. It is scheduled for delivery in the forth quarter of 2015, folowing the completion of sea trials and final works at the yard.

The ship was officially launched in August this year from the dock hall at Ulstein Verft. The DP3 vessel features a main offshore AHC crane 400t, secondary offshore AHC crane 140t, main moon pool, 11.2m x 12.0 m, 450t SWL top hatch and two work class ROVs, launched through dedicated moon pools.
