Project & Tenders

Thanks to a deal with Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), the U.S.-headquartered energy technology giant Baker Hughes is on a mission to help boost production from oil and gas fields in Kuwait, Middle East.

A new multi-year assignment, which is described as a major award, will enable Baker Hughes to provide advanced artificial lift systems and associated services to KOC to improve production in Kuwait’s oil and gas fields.

The U.S. player will supply its portfolio of electrical submersible pumps (ESPs), as well as installation, surveillance and maintenance services, while optimizing further the ESP performance through the integration of the FusionPro intelligent production drive and Leucipa automated field production solution.

This is expected to bolster operational reliability and reduce nonproductive time. This agreement follows a third-quarter award from KOC to provide advanced wireline and perforation technology and services, including Proxima advanced logging services to enhance reservoir evaluation, optimize production and increase recovery.

Amerino Gatti, Executive Vice President of Oilfield Services & Equipment at Baker Hughes, commented: “Technology is unlocking new value from established fields around the world, and Baker Hughes and KOC have been at the forefront of these advancements.

“Our industry-leading artificial lift systems have proven themselves in Kuwait’s oilfields for nearly two decades and established a reputation for reliability and efficiency.”

Baker Hughes, which operates a workshop in Kuwait for equipment testing and failure analysis of artificial lift systems, signed a memorandum of understanding earlier this year to establish a research and development center in the country’s Ahmadi Innovation Valley to help address technology challenges in the upstream sector and build local expertise.

The U.S. firm has been a busy bee, winning new deals and moving forward with already secured ones, including the one with Technip Energies for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) project under development in Louisiana.
