Baker Hughes weekly rig count: U.S. offshore rigs down by 5

Baker Hughes Incorporated has posted its Weekly Rig Count report. According to the report the U.S. offshore rig count has dropped by five from the last week.

 

BHI Rig Count: U.S. + 6 to 1809 rigs

U.S. Rig Count is up 6 rigs from last week to 1809, with oil rigs up 14 to 1487, gas rigs down 8 to 318, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at 4.

U.S. Rig Count is up 61 rigs from last year at 1748, with oil rigs up 133, gas rigs down 71, and miscellaneous rigs down 1.

The U.S. Offshore rig count is 50, down 5 rigs from last week, and up 5 rigs year over year.

BHI Rig Count: Canada – 91 to 298 rigs

Canadian Rig Count is down 91 rigs from last week to 298, with oil rigs down 55 to 155, and gas rigs down 36 to 143.

Canadian Rig Count is up 52 rigs from last year at 246, with oil rigs up 8, and gas rigs up 44.

The Baker Hughes Rotary Rig Counts are counts of the number of drilling rigs actively exploring for or developing oil or natural gas in the United States, Canada and international markets. Baker Hughes has issued the rotary rig counts as a service to the petroleum industry since 1944, when Hughes Tool Company began weekly counts of US and Canadian drilling activity. Baker Hughes initiated the monthly international rig count in 1975.
