According to Headway, the parties aim to jointly promote the development of a hydrogen energy industry chain by exploring integrated development modes and creating a green hydrogen-ammonia-methanol project for the shipping industry.

Headway revealed that the companies will produce low-carbon methanol and develop more hydrogen energy and methanol synthesis projects by utilizing recyclable carbon sources collected by ships’ carbon dioxide capture and reuse systems (CCUS).

Furthermore, the parties will promote equipment and technologies globally, advancing the hydrogen energy industry chain’s sustainability and supporting global dual-carbon goals and the shipping industry’s green transformation, Headway said.

Cao Xueliang, Chairman of Headway Technology Group (Qingdao), pointed out the agreement’s significance in advancing low-carbon energy cooperation, while Li Jingguang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of CEEC Hydrogen Energy, noted that deepening cooperation will widen the application of sustainable fuels in shipping, achieving high-quality development and contributing to the nation’s dual-carbon goal.

Li Weibo, Standing Committee Member, United Front Work Minister and Deputy District Mayor of Laoshan District, Qingdao City, referred to hydrogen as a strategic emerging industry, expressing hope for a “replicable, learnable, and popularized road of comprehensive hydrogen energy utilization through this cooperation.”
