The Ocean Courage semi-sub rig concluded its campaign with Petrobras in Brazil in late September 2023 and mobilized to Guanabara Bay to prepare for its next contract with the Brazilian energy giant, which was expected to begin in December 2023 and run until December 2027. According to Diamond Offshore, the rig embarked on its new four-year contract with Petrobras last month.

“The long-standing relationship with our client has been a source of pride for us and we are excited to continue working with them utilizing the Courage. A big thanks to the rig crews and Petrobras teams, along with our respective service providers, who safely delivered the rig following its five-year special periodic survey, contract prep work and acceptance testing. Under this new contract, we are firmly committed to Petrobras until December of 2027,” outlined the rig owner.

The 2009-built Ocean Courage rig, which was constructed by Sembcorp Marine in Singapore, is capable of drilling in 10,000 feet of water and its maximum drilling depth is 40,000 ft.

This confirmation comes after Diamond Offshore secured a new contract for one of its drillships in Africa, which is related to work offshore Guinea-Bissau. The rig is expected to start this job in direct continuation of its current contract with Woodside in Senegal.
