Diana Containerships Sells Cap Domingo

Nasdaq-listed containership owner Diana Containerships has decided to trim its fleet and sell one of its Panamax boxships to an unnamed buyer, due for delivery by mid-March 2016.

Diana will receive USD 24.25 million for the 2001-built, 3,739 TEU Cap Domingo. The vessel is currently on a charter with German tramp shipping company Rudolf A. Oetker KG, a subsidiary of Hamburg Süd, until March 8, 2016.

Cap Domingo (ex Cap San Marco) was built by South Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries.

The closing of this transaction is subject to buyer’s Board of Directors approval not later than September 4, 2015.

After the sale, Diana’s fleet will consist of twelve boxships ranging from 3,426 TEU to 6,541 TEU in capacity.
