GE, Baker Hughes name leadership team for joint company

Oilfield service provider Baker Hughes said a new executive team has been named to lead the company once the combination with GE’s oil and gas business is complete.

According to a joint statement by the two companies, Lorenzo Simonelli has been named as president and CEO of the new company. Simonelli served as president and CEO of GE oil and gas, and prior to that he held the position of president and CEO of GE Transportation.

In addition to naming Simonelli as president and CEO, the two companies named Maria Claudia Borras, president & CEO, oilfield services, Belgacem Chariag, as chief global operations officer, and Rod Christie as president & CEO, turbomachinery & process solutions.

Further appointments to the team are:

• Harry Elsinga, chief human resources officer;
• Jennifer Hartsock, chief information officer;
• Matthias Heilmann, president & CEO, digital solutions;
• Jack Hinton, chief health, safety and environment (HSE) officer;
• Nicola Jannis, chief business development officer;
• Derek Mathieson, chief marketing and technology officer;
• Jody Markopoulos, chief eEngineering and supply chain officer;
• Will Marsh, chief legal officer;
• Neil Saunders, president & CEO, oilfield equipment;
• Uwem Ukpong, chief integration officer;
• Brian Worrell, chief financial officer.

The company will have its headquarters in Houston, Texas and London, UK.

In a previous statement, the two companies noted that GE CEO Jeff Immelt will serve as chairman of the board of directors of Baker Hughes, a GE Company, and Martin Craighead, currently chairman and CEO at Baker Hughes, will serve as vice chairman of the board.

To remind, at the closing of the transaction Baker Hughes shareholders will receive a special one-time cash dividend of US$17.50 per share and 37.5 percent of the new company, while GE will own 62.5 percent of the company.
