Cargo ship hits bridge in L.A. Harbor

LOS ANGELES – A crane from a cargo ship hit a bridge in the Los Angeles Harbor Sunday, forcing closure of the bridge for nearly two hours, authorities said.

There were no injuries and there was no serious damage to the Vincent Thomas Bridge, which reopened Sunday night, said police spokesman Mike Lopez.

The outbound ship known as “The Beautiful Queen” struck scaffolding on the bridge at about 5 p.m., authorities said.
