7° Myda – Millennium Yacht Design Award call for entries

The seventh MYDA – Millennium Yacht Design Award – the international design award for pleasure boats promoted and organised by CarraraFiere at Seatec, the International Exhibition for technology, subcontracting and design for boats, yachts and ships to be held in Marina di Carrara from 10 to 12 February 2010.

Over the past six years since it was first launched the competition has become one of the most popular events at Seatec. It is open to all architecture and design offices that through their creative flair have demonstrated a substantial contribution to the development and innovation of the concept of pleasure boats.

The competition is divided into two sections: Established professionals and Young professionals. The first section is for projects that have been substantially completed yet not built, by professional designers or designers who have completed and built at least one boat. The second is for projects that have been substantially completed yet not built, by young designers who have not completed any boat project.

Entries will be accepted until 23 October 2009.

Projects can be for sailing or motor pleasure boats of any size and if accepted the documentation regarding the project must be sent to the secretariat by 27 November 2009.

The M.Y.D.A. Awards will be assigned to the winners of each section by the jury composed of leading figures from the world of culture and design, a representative from CarraraFiere, a member of the AS.PRO.NA.DI (Associazione Progettisti Nautica da diporto- Association of Leisure boat designers), yacht design professors and experts in pleasure boat building. During the awards ceremony to be held on 10 February 2010, the winning designers and those receiving any special mentions will illustrate their design methods and the particular characteristics of their works.
