Italy: Rosetti Marino Delivers 'Remarkable' PSV

On 7th January, approximately 12 months since building was commenced, Rosetti Marino, delivered the new Platform Supply Vessel “F.D. Remarkable” to Fratelli D’Amato.

It is the 7th vessel of a 10-unit series – Rolls Royce UT 755 XL design, commissioned by the Neapolitan Owner to the Italian Shipyard. ” Like its predecessors, it has a length of 75 m., a width of 16 m. and a deadweight of over 3,000 tons.

The ship has a CP propulsion system made up of 2 stern propellers of approx. 3 m. driven by General Electric diesel engines producing a total power of 5,580 kW (approx. 7,600 hp), which allows F.D. Remarkable to reach a maximum speed of over 14.5 knots and gives it a cruising range of over 3,500 miles and excellent manoeuvrability thanks to the 4 computer-controlled bow thrusters (2 bow and 2 stern).

This Platform Supply Vessel (Rolls- Royce project UT755XL) is characterized by a very high level of engineering, automation and technology. The PSV has been designed to provide assistance to offshore oil platforms and to safely transport equipment and material to and from the platforms – even those located in very rough waters, such as the Baltic sea and the North Sea and even in particularly adverse weather conditions also thanks to the support of a reliable dynamic positioning.

Rosetti Marino, a turnkey builder of oil platforms and service vessels for the offshore sector (Platform Supply Vessels and Anchor Handling Tugs), inaugurated a new shipyard near Aktau in Kazakhstan in 2011 and has acquired new important contracts which ensure a significant workload until 2013 as far as the “platform” sector is concerned and until 2014 regarding the “newbuilding” sector.
