Sasaki Shipbuilding Installs BALPURE System on APOLLO KITA

The Type-Approved BALPURE ballast water treatment system from Severn Trent De Nora was installed by Sasaki Shipbuilding on its newest general cargo ship “APOLLO KITA” for the first time in Japan. The BALPURE system utilizes elctrolytic disinfection technology.

BALPURE’s slip stream treatment approach, in which 1% of the total ballast water flow is used to generate the hypochlorite disinfection solution, enables remote mounting away from the main ballast line. BALPURE can be installed in the engine room or in auxiliary machinery spaces classified as safe areas. The slip stream treatment approach also allows for normal efficiency in low-salinity and low-temperature water quality environments.
