Navantia to Equip Brazilian Corvette with Engine Control Systems

Navantia has been awarded a contract by the Brazilian Navy to supply control systems for the propulsion engines of an Inhauma-type corvette. What is more, the order includes an option for NAVANTIA to modernize the remaining vessels from the series, up to a total of 5 units.

The contract amounts to 1 Million Euros per vessel, and it entails a workload of around 6,000 hours for the Engine and Control Systems centers. The contract paves the way for Navantia to expand its presence on the Brazilian market by opening possibilities for future contracts as well.

At the moment Navantia is also offering, jointly with the German company MTU a number of new engines for the modernization program of the Niteroi-type frigates. On the other hand, the Spanish shipbuilder has also submitted an offer for the design, technological transfer and partial construction of 5 frigates, 5 patrol boats and 1 logistical ship (PROSUPER program) and it participates in bids for the construction of other ships, such as aircraft carriers, amphibious and oceanographic vessels.
