NorSea Group Named as 'Company of the Year' 2013 for Norway's Stavanger Region

The NorSea Group has been named as “Company of the Year” 2013 for Norway’s Stavanger region.

The jury described the winner as a cornerstone company exhibiting stable growth, healthy profitability, and extensive corporate community involvement.

The aim of the award is to stimulate company culture and raise the status of the business community in the eyes of both the region’s population and the public authorities.

The jury’s citation

“The company was founded in 1965, and is fast approaching its 50th anniversary. We are talking about a cornerstone company of considerable size in the Stavanger region, although it also holds a leading position in Norway as a whole. The company has gradually developed from a property company into a comprehensive provider of supply and logistics services, and an operator of offshore bases and port facilities. The company’s activities also include supply ship operation. Over many years the company has accumulated extensive experience in the provision of services to demanding oil and gas sector clients working on the Norwegian continental shelf. In this market, only the best is good enough!

This year’s winner has exhibited stable growth and healthy profitability for many years, and in 2012 had a turnover of approx. NOK 2.5 billion, and showed a pre-tax profit of approx. NOK 350 million. Today, the company employs about 600 people, but more growth is anticipated and it is currently recruiting.

The company has its head office in Tananger and is an active promoter of the expansion of the port at Risavika as one of the region’s most important logistics hubs. This company exhibits extensive corporate community involvement and made a significant contribution when the Chamber of Commerce launched its voluntary million kroner initiative in Tananger to pre-finance planning of the “Transportkorridor Vest” road project.”

Praises co-workers

“This is a very nice recognition for the company, but it is first and foremost an award that goes to our many loyal, creative and enthusiastic staff who for decades has made a remarkable effort for the company,” says John E. Stangeland, CEO of Norsea.
