The seismic acquisition with Ocean Bottom Nodes (OBN) technology and new multiphysics surveys, including magnetometric and gravimetric, of the 3D Nodes project will begin in the first half of July.

The work, to be carried out at an area of 810 km², will improve 3D imaging and obtain future 4D monitoring of the Parque das Baleias fields, Petrobras said.

According to the company, the new 3D seismic data obtained with OBN will optimize the characterization of reservoirs and their boundaries, allowing better management of the fields.

Parque das Baleias, also known as the Whale Park, is a cluster of deep-water oil and gas fields located in the northern Campos Basin, offshore Espírito Santo.

Solely operated by Petrobras, the area includes the Jubarte, Cachalote, Pirambu, Baleia Anã, Caxaréu, and Mangangá fields that have both pre-salt and post-salt reserves.
