PLAT-O floats towards deployment

Sustainable Marine Energy (SME) will begin mooring works related to the deployment its PLAT-O tidal energy converter at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) site next week.

Leask Marine’s multi-cat C-Chariot supported by the workboats C-Salvor, C-Odyssey, Uskmoor and Live Wyre will be engaged in marine works in connection with the PLAT-O 1 tidal energy converter in the north of the EMEC tidal test site.

The works will include mooring, cable works, and diving operations, with the expected duration from September 22 until October 13, 2016.

The vessels engaged in the works will proceed to and from Hatston in Kirkwall to the EMEC test site at the Fall of Warness close to the west side of Eday, Orkney.

PLAT-O tidal energy converter hosts two Schottel Hydro’s SIT turbines with the total capacity of 100kW.
