Sea Trials Start for Aegir Deepwater Construction Vessel

The ‘Aegir’, a customized version of our ULSTEIN SOC 5000 design, has started her sea trials in South Korea. The vessel, designed by Ulstein Sea of Solutions, is Heerema’s latest deepwater construction vessel (DCV), measuring 211.5 m metres by 46.2 metres. She is outfitted at the DSME shipyard in South Korea.

The DP3 class vessel will be capable of executing complex infrastructure and pipeline projects in ultra deep water and will also have sufficient lifting capacity to install fixed platforms in relatively shallow water.

In March, the vessel will come to Rotterdam for final outfitting on the lay system.

The construction started in August 2011, and in June 2012 the installation of the impressive revolving mast crane started. The crane has a capacity of lifting 4,000 tonnes.
