Seaborn Boosts Seabras-1 Capacity

Seaborn Networks has announced that to better address its contracted customer demand, its Seabras-1 submarine fiber optic cable has been increased to be a 6-fiber pair system with a maximum upgradeable capacity of 60Tbps.

“We increased the system size in response to the significant pent up demand on the route for lit capacity, spectrum and fiber pairs,” said Larry Schwartz, Seaborn’s CEO.

Seaborn has also fully contracted for its Seabras-1 backhaul from landing stations into Sao Paulo and New York City, and the system has a ready-for-service date in 2016.

Seaborn Networks is a developer and operator of submarine fiber optic cable systems, including Seabras-1 which is the first express submarine cable system between the US and Brazil.
